Psalm 121:1-2 (ESV)

“I will lift my eyes to the hills — from where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

No matter where we go or where we are, danger always abounds. We see stories on the news on people suffering and disasters striking everywhere on the earth. With all of this calamity, how can we have hope? Simple. Our hope comes from God, who is above all suffering, trials and tribulations.

This psalm encourages us to put our confidence in God. Through our faith in Him, we can put ourselves under His protection. God is all-powerful and all-sufficient. There is no one better to put your safety in. He guards us from evil, keeps us on the right path and is always there for us when we need Him the most.

We must look beyond the obstacles of life or the hills in our sight. If we look past the danger and toward the Lord, He will rescue us. Sometimes our vision is clouded by fear and doubt. We become too afraid of the enemies we face. However, we must remember that God is stronger than our enemies and more powerful than our obstacles. He is greater than our faults. He is our fortress. He is our hope.

We should expect God’s amazing protection, because He will conquer any foe. If we accept Him as our Lord and Savior through our faith, we will be transformed into strong followers of God. What good is calling Jesus our Savior, if we don’t believe He can save us?

God is so wonderful and loving. He knows that we can’t take on our enemies on our own. That’s what He offers to help us. He stretches out His mighty hand toward us every time we need to be rescued. The biggest decision we can make is whether or not to take it. That is faith.

This week, pray about how God can strengthen you and protect you from evil. Let His power dwell among us, so the worries of this world will be an afterthought.
